HistoricalRomanceBooks.ca Book Review Of "The Making of a Duchess"

The Making of a Duchess By Shana Galen ( 5 Hearts Out Of 5 )

Julian Harcourt's family is aristocratic and one faithful night, when he was younger, the local villagers targeted his family and lit their house on fire. Julian almost did not make it out of his family's burning house, and for that matter out of France during the French Revolution. He lost his father, and his brothers to the fire that faithful night. Now, Julian is all grown up. Many years have passed, but one day out of no where he receives a letter from his old family butler informing him that he has found his brother Armand is alive! Julian must go back to France and save him. The only problem is that France is still at war with England, and Julian Harcourt's family is still being actively hunted.

Sara Smith has wonderful job as governess to a wonderful family. When her employer asks her to become a spy and spy on Julian Harcourt she is dumb founded and quickly refuses, until she is threatened. Now, she must play the part of some girl that is a family friend of Julian Harcourt's family. She does not even know about or how to even gather information on Julian Harcourt. She must prove that he is a traitor to his country. Will Sara be able to gather information on Julian without falling in love with him? Will Julian be able to rescue his brother without being captured, or will he be swept away by Sara's charm and beauty?

Right from page one I was instantly captured by Shana's book “The Making of a Duchess”. I could not put this book down, I was absolutely engrossed in Julian Harcourt's life. This book is so exciting that you will be on edge right to the end, and the end of this book is even more shocking. A great fast paced book, never once did it lack enjoyment or excitement. I will be reading the second book this series, and I can hardly wait to get started.
